December 2005 – changing tack

I have decided to abandon building the little KR2 and instead build an all-metal RV7.

The main reasons are enhanced resale value, longevity and availability of components (complete kit). And I think I prefer working in metal. So I have purchased the first stage kit – the empennage, comprising horizontal and vertical stabilisers and associated control surfaces. Getting started has involved organising construction space, purchasing a range of specialised tools and a lot of learning. I have arranged to share some building space in a hangar at the Serpentine airfield.
